Probe report in Tipu-Preeti murder case on April 16

A Dhaka court set April 16 for submitting the probe report in a case lodged over the sensational murder of Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Preeti in city’s Shahjahanpur area.

Today was fixed for submitting the probe report, but the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case failed to submit the report, prompting Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Rajesh Chowdhury of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court to fix the date afresh.

Tipu, who was on his microbus destined for his home, was shot dead by a masked assailant group in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area at the night of March 24 last.

Rickshaw passenger Samia Afran Preeti was also killed in the incident at that time.
Tipu’s wife Farhana Islam Dolly filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police Station on March 25 in this connection.

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested the main shooter Masum Mohammad alias Akash from Bogura. During primary interrogation, Masum confessed that he killed Tipu.
